The Village of Mount Kisco - Circa late 1800's. The village name represents the early experience and observations of the Native Americans and European settlers who settled in this unique place we call Mount Kisco. Mount comes from the 623 foot hill located in the Northwest portion of the village. Kisco is derived from Native American words - either cisqua meaning 'a muddy place' or kiskamenahook meaning "settlement near a brook". Either way they describe the water of the Kisco River and Branch Brook streams, wetlands and valley where Mount Kisco is currently located with 'Kisco Mountain' benignly looking over the valley .
